Day of Teaching 2024

Stadt, Land, Lehre - in Freiheit und Demokratie

Last semester, the University of Applied Sciences Nordhausen launched a new exchange format with the first Day of Teaching Perspektivwechsel (Change of Perspective). Its success and relevance were reflected in the feedback from participants. Now there will be a new edition in the summer semester 2024 together with the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

Our change of perspective this year is based on the motto "Stadt, Land, Lehre - in Freiheit und Demokratie" ("City, country, teaching - in freedom and democracy"). In view of the state elections in Thuringia in 2024, the 75th anniversary of the Basic Law and the 35th anniversary of the Peaceful Revolution, these are highly relevant topics.

Together with you, we want to look at how teaching can be shaped in uncertain times: How can teaching respond to crises? What does good teaching mean in 2024? Can good teaching be passed on? If so, how? What gaps are there in teaching? How and with what can they be filled?

These and other questions can be addressed and discussed during the Day of Teaching - take the opportunity to contribute your perspective and discuss together how we want to shape teaching at Thuringian universities today and in the future!

Procedure

We would like to start the Day of Teaching together with the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar as part of a hybrid event. After introductory words, we will dive into the topic with a panel discussion between teachers and students on the interactions between teaching, learning and society. The guiding questions will be: What contribution can teaching and learning make to promoting democracy and freedom? How do we take up impulses, how do we give impulses to society?

Subsequently, various keynote speeches, workshops and discussion rounds will invite participants to delve deeper into individual topics. These events will take place on the campus of one of the cooperating universities and will be supplemented by hybrid and digital formats.

During the Day of Teaching, there will be various asynchronous offers and projects that you can visit individually.

We will end the Day of Teaching together with a closing event.
