Fields of work

The in.RET advises companies, institutions and authorities on questions of energy efficiency and energy use. It develops energy and sustainability concepts and identifies potential savings. We provide expert opinions on questions of energy supply, renewable energy technology and energy policy. Numerous research projects are investigating specific technological solutions in the various application areas of renewable energies. Furthermore, the in.RET participates in professional associations and national standardization organizations in the field of renewable energy technology. We are involved in the municipal sustainability management of the city and district of Nordhausen.

One of the central tasks of energy research in the coming years will be how renewable energies can be reasonably combined or integrated into the existing supply structures in the heat and electricity market. Therefore, in addition to the further development and optimisation of technologies for the use of renewable energies, an important focus of the institute's work is the system integration of these energies. Numerous interdisciplinary questions from the fields of energy technology, measurement and control technology (e.g. with regard to the storage of renewable energies) and economics have to be dealt with.

In this current field of research, we see ourselves in a very good position due to the expertise available at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, but also due to the integration of the in.RET in supraregional research structures, in order to develop practical solutions for these questions with partners from industry, energy supply, but also in cooperation with other research institutions.
