Video tutorials

During the IPW, students can take part in specialised, interdisciplinary projects from the fields of engineering, business studies, social sciences or cultural studies alongside lecturers from partner universities. The working language is English. Check out the archive to see a list of past projects and get an idea of the different types of projects that have been done as well as the lecturers involved. Project proposals or suggestions concerning the procedures and organisation of the International Project Week can be sent to ipwhs-nordhausen.de at any time.

Information for students

The IPW combines project work on topics from various fields with foreign language practice. Consequently, the IPW is an essential pillar of ‘Internationalisation @ Home’ at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. It gives all students – particularly those unable to participate in mobility programmes – the opportunity to broaden their horizons and acquire intercultural skills.

The IPW is open to all students at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. Recognition of ECTS credits and grades, however, varies according to the specific degree course and the university regulations.

This is how it works:

  • Project work with the lecturers is scheduled for Monday to Thursday mornings. In the afternoons, students continue working on their projects independently. The IPW project days are roughly 9 to 5, although more time (till around 7 p.m.) should be scheduled for Thursday when the final presentations are prepared.
  • On Friday, final preparations are made and the project results are presented. This is open to all members of the university.

Information for (guest) lecturers

The IPW gives you the opportunity to have a change of scenery and teach students in a different cultural and academic setting for a week.

In small groups of around 10 to 20 students, you will work on specialised or interdisciplinary projects in English, which the students present to other members of the university at the end of the week.

Moreover, the IPW is always an excellent opportunity to get to know and reconnect with colleagues from different countries and continents. Numerous international friendships and networks have resulted from the IPW over the years.

How does the International Project Week work? Normally, project work with the students is scheduled in the mornings. In the afternoons, lecturers can participate in various cultural and leisure activities. Students continue to work on the projects independently during this time. For the preliminary timetable please see the Academic Rules.

How can I register? If you’re interested in taking part in the IPW, please send an e-mail to ipwhs-nordhausen.de.

How is my stay funded? Guest lecturers from partner universities may be able to finance their stay using Erasmus+ funding from their home universities. External lecturers, self-employed participants and lecturers from other universities can generally be financed through Erasmus+ funding from Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. If you have any questions about funding,  don’t hesitate to contact the International Office.
